PADI IDC Schedule 2022

2022 PADI IDC Schedule with Holly Macleod – Gili Islands

2022 is a great time to consider a new career as a PADI Scuba Diving Instructor, and Industry Leading Multiple Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod offers the absolute best possible opportunities at Blue Marlin Dive in Gili Trawangan.

Over the course of the past few years PADI have revised the Instructor Development Curriculum and assisted in the development of the perfect additions to the PADI IDC with Holly Macleod. Having such a wealth of experience teaching both recreational level and Instructor level courses allows the program to be adapted perfectly and provide new instructors a seamless transition into a brand new career.

The main change really has been the shift to online learning, which is considered to be both a good and a bad thing. Of course it immediately replaces the traditional lesson guides and is a welcome improvement. However it also makes way for either no classroom based recap, or in the case of Holly Macleod’s program allows all aspects to be explored in more detail with a more experience based real life emphasis. For PADI Course Director’s with experience of teaching the traditional program and a background of teaching recreational programs, it allows a more practical element of training whereby real life experience can be drawn upon, providing a tried and tested situational aspect to specific portions of the course.

For example all Individual PADI Course presentations are now online based, meaning that there is no required physical presentation regarding individual courses

However on the PADI IDC with Holly Macleod there is a recap and analysis, whereby topics will be revisited and discussed with an emphasis on real life experience based situations that may have actually been encountered by Holly during a 20+ year career teaching diving. The schedule with Holly is also designed to align with the online learning, so rather than doing it all at once before the course starts; online portions are undertaken sequentially with the recap, discussion, analysis and practical portions. This generally provided new instructors with an understanding of what each program offers, its goals, applications and some background into how to deal with unforeseen situational circumstances.

PADI encourages a more practical based training approach, which is great and provides more diving opportunities throughout the program. The course with Holly always included a range of additional practical elements, so although the change doesn’t really provide more elements to the training, it has allowed for additional non curriculum based components to be added. For example there is now a requirement to introduce skills from a deep diving scenario, and how this is done is up to the person teaching the program. Although this could be in shallow or deep water and doesn’t really specify a specific format, but on the program with Holly candidates will role play an entire deep diving scenario. Another extension to the deep diver scenario is that Holly will also explore the procedure for referral students and thus the methods and techniques used to asses diver readiness, as would be required in a real life training scenario.

The Discover Scuba Diving Workshop has also been expanded to explore the whole process from start to finish including the optional open water dive portion. Holly has also included elements of dive site selection, analysis techniques to assess dive site conditions and appropriate control methods when conducting an open water optional dive.

The PADI Rescue Diver portion has also been expanded. Now candidates will explore, analyse and participate in the full program both in confined and open water environments. Another great adaption is that the PADI Emergency First Response Instructor (EFRI) course will take place during the IDC and will be seamlessly aligned with the Rescue Diver portion. As a DAN Dive Medic and a PADI Diver Emergency Medical Responder, Holly has all added some additional dive medic components to the EFRI training which would usually be considered outside of the basic curriculum.

So, all that being said; the new improved PADI IDC Schedule with Holly in conducted on a 20 day schedule and includes any pre preparation and the PADI EFRI course. The brand new schedule has been adapted to provide new instructors with a realistic, experienced based training pattern that allows candidates to go further making perfect use of the allocated time. For the 2022 the following dates will apply for Instructor training with Holly.
