THE GILI ISLANDS

The Islands

Our luxurious private villas are located in a coconut plantation in the north-west part of the island and offer complete solitude and tranquilly. Each property has its own own garden and swimming pool. Using the provided bicycles, you can easily tour the island.

Electricity

All three Gili islands have their own steady electrical producing plants that can provide power to the island 24 hours a day, however during peak season, especially in the late afternoon and early evening, this can be strained. To avoid complications, most firms have their own generators, and power outages normally last only a few hours.

Communication

On Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air, there are a variety of internet cafés that all charge around the same price (around Rp500 per minute), albeit they run at different speeds. Purchasing SIM cards for your mobile phone is straightforward and inexpensive. WIFI is widely available, and data packages purchased from a local phone company are a cost-effective option to obtain dependable internet access.

Health and safety

The Gili Islands have a low crime rate in general, however no place is completely devoid of minor crime. It’s best to leave valuables in your room or in a safe, just like anywhere else in the world. Hotel Vila Ombak features a 24-hour clinic with a doctor who can treat with minor injuries and ailments. They may also be able to give prescription medicines.

Swimming and snorkeling

The main beach regions are the greatest sites for snorkelling and swimming. Several businesses along the street rent masks, fins, and snorkels. Glass bottom boat tours of the three Gili islands are available for 150,000rp per person. You may witness a wide variety of marine creatures, but please don’t touch anything.

Water

Although there is plenty of water on Gili Trawangan, most businesses rely on well water for showers and restrooms, with many facilities importing fresh water from the island of Lombok. Small fishing boats from Lombok bring all of the fresh water to the islands. Please conserve the island’s water resources!

Kayaking and paddleboards

Kayaking is a fantastic way to combine sports and the outdoors. Prior to departing on a paddle across the channel to neighbouring Gili Meno for a picnic lunch, full training and a practise session are provided.

Horse riding

Horseback riding is a fantastic way to view the entire island. You may walk or ride along the beach around the perimeter of Gili Trawangan, and all of the Stud Stables have professional guides.

Money matters

On Gili Trawangan, there are a variety of ATM machines. Visa and MasterCard are accepted at all dive centres and larger hotels, with a 3% bank fee added.
