When choosing anything these days, it is always wise to go with experience. This is also true in diving, particularly when making a career change which is likely to affect the rest of your working career. The PADI Divemaster and Instructor Development Course (IDC) are the first steps when entering into a career in recreational scuba diving.
Other things to consider are passion and dedication.
On the PADI Scuba Diving Instructor Development Course (IDC) with Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod, professional divers can be assured that they receive the absolute highest possible standard of training available within the dive industry. Holly Macleod has been teaching recreational dive training for over 18 years now and it has taken her to a range of worldwide locations. Over the last decade. Holly has focussed mainly on Instructor training and has now issued well over 3000 Instructor level certifications in the Gili Islands alone.
All Instructor level training is entirely conducted by Holly and takes place at the only ever 5 Star IDC Career Development Centre (CDC) to have been established on the island of Gili Trawangan, Indonesia.
The Instructor training program not only teaches you to be an instructor and pass the PADI Instructor Exam, but takes you to a level that far exceeds that required by the industry,
maximizing your career prospects and your enjoyment of working life and of course also increasing the benefits gained by your future students.
The course is taught on a 20 day schedule including the PADI EFRI course. We do however recommend that people arrive early so as to take full advantage of our pre-IDC workshops (4 days minimum recommended). Our IDC philosophy is to develop a program that prepares candidates to become PADI Instructors and teach the standard range of PADI programs and for life as a PADI professional. This involves training Instructors to the highest possible standards and giving candidates the opportunity to immediately put their new found teaching skills into practice.
This allows new instructors to begin their career in teaching with confidence.
Once the PADI IDC in Gili Trawangan is finished there are many options. Most of our previous instructors have found work immediately after the course, either within the group or with other dive centres. In fact Holly often gets asked by dive centres to provide instructors. It is fairly easy to see and meet previous PADI Instructors by taking a walk around Gili Trawangan, as many former IDC candidates choose to stay here on the Island to work.
Another option is to take further training and gain experience is specialty areas.
The Specialties program allows instructors to gain more training in certain specialty areas of diving, gives them the ability to teach a wider range of programs including the courses of specific interest to them, and of course earn more money as an Instructor.
As well as specialty training, there is a range of additional opportunities to explore such as technical diving, Livaboard experience, Instructor training , conservation initiatives and whole host of complimentary diving disciplines that can help develop any individual Instructors desired career in the industry.
So all in all, with the PADI IDC Gili Islands Programs professional divers will not only receive a quality experience based Instructor training program, but will also have the opportunity to return once an experienced instructor and take part in our PADI IDC Indonesia Career Progression & Development Programs.
